De Lingua Latina October 14, 2008

Posted by Brian L. Belen in Odds and Ends.

One tends to come across the token article extolling the virtues of the Latin language with surprising regularity. Said article usually contains any of the following elements: that Latin imparts mental discipline and teaches one to be more logical and analytical, that the language is a powerful tool to improve a person’s English grammar and vocabulary, and (of course) the usual canard about how Latin isn’t as dead a language as many tend to think.

Speaking from experience, it’s all true. Quite frankly, it’s a pity that there aren’t more of these articles to do justice to the language.
